Upon retiring from the D.O.E. as an Educational Interpreter in the K-12 setting, Gail Odagiri has been exploring options that will immerse her in culture, languages, and the creative arts. She was attending Leeward Community College’s Theater and Basic Stagecraft program but has since transferred to the Fashion Technology program at Honolulu Community College.
Gail wishes to design clothes for people whose body types are not considered “standard” or “typical” and she is also keen on designing costumes for dancing Hula. She dances with the hālau Hula ‘O Mililani Kupuna under the direction of Kumu Hula Keola Tom.
She is also retired from Hawaii Pacific Health as a Charge Systems Analyst after working various positions within the company. Gail’s prior employment involved adjudicating Medicaid claims at HMSA. She has a BFA from UH Mānoa in Textile Design.
